Time Architect 2.2 is here!

We are very pleased to announce that TA 2.2 is now available to download! (currently only a patch file - we will have the full installer up very soon.)
TA 2.2 adds new features, enhancements and a number of bug fixes too.
Export To A Microsoft Project Workbook File

TA 2.2 allows user to export data to a Microsoft Project Workbook file, which can then be simply imported to MS Project.
Additionally, you can specify an Excel template (generated from MS Project) with the correct headings and sheet names when using a non-English version of MS Project.
Save And Load Import Wizard Settings

TA 2.2 allows user to save and load import wizard settings,

this includes import format settings,
column mapping settings,
tagged value mapping settings,
element type settings
and link type settings.
Save And Load Grid Column Layouts

The layout for the order,
filter and
frozen state of grid columns can be saved and loaded from TA 2.2,
this is all saved into a TA Column (.tacol) file and it can be re-distributed freely. Please see the help manual for more details.
Read Link Stereotype Filter

TA 2.2 lets user customize TA's reading algorithm further more -
it is now possible to read only the dependency link stereotypes you wish to read. Again, please see the manual for more details.
Improved User Interface

Settings dialog's "Close" button has been changed to "Cancel" button, which means when cancel button is clicked, all changes made to settings dialog will be cancelled.
When assigning duration to an unallocated task, TA will assign resource "unknown" to this task.
View quick holiday information in resource management dialog.
It is possible to give a task 0 hours for duration, and setting a task's duration to be 0 will mark this task as a milestone.
Milestones are clickable and it is possible to turn milestone highlight on or off.
Improved Multiple Element Properties dialog - able to specify three states of milestone property.
It is possible to add multiple public/individual holidays at the same time. (For example, holiday from 3rd November - 10th November).
TA's "Save" button becomes enabled after the redraw so user can save changes after TA's time calculation
In Multiple Element Properties dialog, tagged value list reads predefined tagged value names too.
Improved Add New Element dialog to allow quickly add a number of tasks - added an option to clear name and notes.
Modified the resource dropdown to also pick up Authors.
Bug Fixes

Fixed a problem that might cause Excel Import to fail while merging by tasks only.
Fixed a problem that after the Excel Import to create TA Tasks and Risks, also for add or move multiple TA Tasks and Risks, created EA elements are drawn incorrectly on the diagram.
Fixed a problem in Package Mode, TA might draw Gantt Chart incorrectly when setting a root task to start later than project start date.
Fixed a problem that TA may stop working for packages or elements that are locked or security protected.
Fixed a problem that the tasks may not be drawn correctly for Start_Finish relationship while the parent task starts at day start time after a weekend (for example 9am on Monday).

TA Community Assistance Required...

Hi there,
TA 2.2 (that will be launched very soon) includes the ability to export directly to MS Excel pre-formated in the way that can be read by MS Project for importing (MS Excel Workbook format). However, during the beta testing (which is under way at the moment) it was discovered that MS Project needs theMS Excel file in the correct language that is being used on the computer. So, if you are running MS Project in German, Dutch or French (for example) then the headings must be in the appropriate language...
To resolve this, we have added an extra feature to the MS Excel workbook export that allows you to give TA an example MS Project Excel file and it will read the correct headings and sheet names from that when it creates the output.
Please, if you want/need TA to work with MS Project in any language other than English, could you send us an example MS Project Excel file so that we can test the output mechanism is working correctly? We will then make these template files available on the web-site as part of the downloads for the future. If you are willing to help, then please contact us via the contact form.
Please note, we have taken this route as we believe that it is more flexible and dynamic than using the resource files route as we can respond to all users demands.
Thank you in advance for your assistance on this.

Big changes are coming...

Dear all,
although things have been a little quiet on the Time Architect News page, there has been a lot of activity in the background!
First off, for those that are not aware, we now have a blog on the main Solutions Reality site and this regularly features Time Architect specific articles. To see for yourself, have a look at: http://www.solutionsreality.com/blog/?cat=12 once you are there, why not have a look at all the features - we think you may find it interesting!
The biggest change that is coming soon is the launch of the redesigned Time Architect website. This should happen before the end of the year. The new version of the site makes it easier to find information on TA and features a number of redesigned sections...
Related to this re-launch, the Time Architect site will be hosted at www.timearchitect.net there will no longer be a redirect to the Solutions Reality site. We will keep the downloads in synch to start with but probably by the end of February the site will solely be hosted on www.timearchitect.net.
TA 2.3 is almost ready for beta testing - again this should be released out to our intrepid beta testers by the end of the year and should then be released in early January. We have some smart new features in this build including the ability to link to/from packages and a new schedule tool... Watch this space for full details.
